Andrew Perzigian, L.Ac
My interest in health and wellness started with nutrition. During college I read every nutrition book I could get my hands on. At the same time, I also became interested in meditation and Eastern thought. In the 1990s I travelled to India, Nepal and Tibet to study meditation. It was there that I first witnessed Tibetan yogis making decisions about food based on factors with which I was completely unfamiliar. These Tibetan teachers were considering the subtle energetic qualities of food, something not discussed in Western books on nutrition. A couple of years later I began to read books about Chinese Medicine that started to uncover a bit of what the Tibetans were getting at. At this time I also received my first acupuncture treatment and began cooking with Chinese herbs. When I eventually discovered that Chinese medicine schools exist, I enrolled immediately. Today, I continue to study Tibetan Buddhism and yoga and consider these practices to be indispensable aspects of my life and practice of Chinese Medicine.
